As the First Steps Coordinator (FSC) you will, in partnership with the Guest Experience Pastor, innovate, plan for and execute a clear, consistent and relationally-focused first time experience for guests & families visiting Willow South Barrington. You will lend leadership and support to the growth, care, and development of Guest Experience volunteer teams, particularly those who help walk with guests and regular attenders from a raised hand to the next step on their spiritual journey. You’ll need to become knowledgeable of the spiritual growth and serving opportunities available at Willow.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Innovate, plan for, and execute a clear, consistent and relationally-focused first time guest experience with a clear next step for visitors
  • Partner with Guest Experience Pastor to support all service-hour teams
  • Manage and oversee serving request system by utilizing Willow’s database to track serving opportunities across various ministries as well as tracking the success rate of connections into serving roles
  • Grow, lead and develop our non-service hour Connections Serving teams (ex. Serve Coaches)
  • Oversee follow up process with first time guests/families who engage with South Barrington via digital platforms and in person services
  • Keep up-to-date with current connections opportunities available at Willow and the processes (back end & guest facing) associated with each

  • The majority of first time guests and families are given a clear first step 
  • The majority of first time guests and families successfully integrate into the life of Willow Creek Church
  • Serving teams and team leaders are properly equipped, trained, and developed 
  • A vibrant serving culture exists for serving teams
  • A healthy, mutually beneficial relationship exists between FSC and other staff 
  • A clear and simple system is implemented to track all serving inquiries
  • A majority of people who inquire about serving are handed off successfully to a “good fit” ministry/role

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required; college degree preferred
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with church engagement pathways a plus
  • Experience managing systems 
  • Proficiency in Google Suite preferred
  • Previous experience as church staff or high capacity volunteer leader
  • Proven experience in leading teams and developing volunteers
