A Ministry Assistant provides pastoral assistance by coordinating activities for pastors, staff, interns, volunteers, and/or church attendees. They support various ministries, such as the Young Adult Ministry, Student Ministries, Crusade, Harvest OC, and Children’s Ministry. They assist with the planning of meetings, events, and/or training sessions for a specific team. A Ministry Assistant may also teach, offer counsel to individuals who are seeking encouragement and guidance. They serve with integrity, honesty, and knowledge that promotes the culture, values, and Harvest’s mission.

  • Meet with pastors and/or leaders to plan the scope and format of events,   as well as review administrative procedures and event progress.
  • Consult with leaders to determine objectives and requirements for events such as meetings, conferences, and training.
  • Confer with pastors to determine priorities and resource needs, as well as plans to encourage support and participation.
  • Monitor event activities to ensure compliance, participant satisfaction, and resolution of any problems that arise.
  • Identify and recruit potential volunteer workers.
  • May train and supervise staff, interns, volunteers, and outside groups.
  • May teach congregations, volunteers, and/or outside groups.
  • Implement program plans by ordering needed materials, scheduling speakers, or handling other administrative details.
  • Collaborate with other ministry members to establish goals and objectives for programs or events.
  • May schedule special events such as camps, conferences, meetings, seminars, or retreats.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Physical requirements, with or without accommodation, include long periods of sitting for Bible study for message preparation, repetitive hand motions due to keyboard typing for email communication or message preparation,   long phone calls for counsel sessions or prayer, looking at the computer screen for long periods of time.
