Job Summary

The South Security Officer is positioned to provide safety for the James River staff and visitors while utilizing public relations skills to ensure a welcoming environment. This employee will administer rules and regulations in a friendly and courteous manner, while promoting the mission of James River Church, to ‘Reach the Lost’.  They will follow church safety and security policies and procedures.  Reporting of all accidents, injuries and unsafe conditions to appropriate department, while maintaining confidentiality and protecting facility assets. Will require Sunday, Wednesday, or special event hours at campus as requested.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

  1. Monitor entrance and exit – all persons gaining entrance to the building
    • Temperature taking and mask wearing of all entering James River Facilities (some exceptions are excluded)
  2. Maintain log in and log out sheets as requested.
  3. Display excellent customer (Hosting) relations.
  4. Assist the Early Childhood/Preschool department with needs.
    • Including but not limited to helping with medical concerns with the kiddos
    • Responsible for completing paperwork and forward to appropriate JRC Staff
    • Contact of and help with 911 calls made for illness/injuries
    • Helping with some indoor/outdoor playground movement of classes
    • Running emergency drills with the EC/WDP Staff & JRC staff
  5. Maintain James River Church security policies.
  6. Document all incidents with a detailed report including photos if needed.
  7. Notify police, fire or medical as needed.
  8. Notify appropriate JRC Staff of emergency or urgent situations or of persons with questionable intent.
  9. Assist with emergency situations within or on the campus facility.
  10. Provide daily activity reports on all incidents within the day.
  11. Ensure clothing and appearance is clean and professional.
  12. In conjunction work with department Dream Team Coordinator for all incoming new Dream Team for department
  13. Maintain CPR/First Aid/AED and other Medical certificates requested
  14. Training along with James River Security Team personnel, required
  15. Manage Kids Security Dream Team & Leaders for your campus
  16. Some Saturday and most Sunday work required
  17. Willing to drive to James River Church, all Springfield campuses as requested/required; some Joplin trips may be requested.
  18. Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  1. Two (2) years of work experience
  2. Must be at least 21 years of age
  3. Must be POST certified or have security experience on the JRC Security Team
  4. Must have clean driving record. Any previous driving violations must be reviewed and approved.
  5. Continue trainings and certifications as required and requested by JRC Staff

  4. Computer skills including Microsoft Office suite of products
  5. Must be punctual, pleasant and tactful with professional appearance and conduct.
  6. Must maintain confidentiality.
  7. May be required to sit stand or walk for extended periods of time.
  8. Able to climb, lift, carry or pull.
  9. Ability to interact positively with and provide service to others at all levels within JRC.
  10. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervising personnel, coworkers, business professionals and the general public.
  11. Exhibit, honesty, integrity, responsibility and punctuality through the utilization of professional work standards.
  12. Must have strong analytical skills.
