Antioch Baptist Church is a loving and conservative Southern Baptist Church seeking a bi-vocational pastor to shepherd the flock through preaching, leading and pastoral care.

For our church, bi-vocational means hiring a pastor understanding that he would need a secondary income to supplement his income while leading our church. We also understand that we, as a church, need to be sensitive to the schedule and responsibilities of his other job. We are praying that God will increase our ministry allowing us to support a full-time pastor. As such, we are committed to supporting a bi-vocational pastor’s unique needs.

Job Description

The Candidate

The pastor that God has chosen for our Church, will lead and develop leadership for equipping of the congregation to fulfill the Great Commission and accomplish the purpose statement of the church. The pastor is leader of pastoral ministries in a church. As such he works with the deacons and church staff to: (1) lead the church in performing its tasks, (2) lead the church to engage in a fellowship of worship, education, ministry, and application, (3) proclaim the gospel to believers and unbelievers, and (4) care for the church’s members and persons in the community. He will provide appropriate pastoral care to members of the church and community. He will lead by example in the area of personal evangelism. He will equip the leadership and members of the church to do the same. He will have a close personal relationship with Jesus Christ, which is demonstrated through his accepting, loving, and nurturing of each person

The Qualifications

· Prior pastoral experience is preferred but not required.

· Must meet the biblical qualifications for an elder (1 Timothy 3; Titus 1; 1 Peter 5:1-4)

· Is a man who can rightly divide the Word of God (2 Timothy 2:15) and apply a biblical worldview to the events and situations we face in daily life

· Believes in the inerrancy of the whole Word of God

· Teaches and preaches both exegetically and topically

· Born again and have a personal testimony of his conversion and commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

· Aligned with our church’s doctrinal statement

· He is committed to integrity and accountability to those he serves

Duties:

· Maintain a vital and wholesome personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ through daily Bible Study and Prayer.

· Prepare and lead Sunday Services, teach an adult Sunday School class and/or weeknight Bible study.

· Prepare members for Christian living and church leadership by teaching and preaching from the Scriptures.

· Attend to the congregation’s pastoral needs, including (as necessary and available) visitation, prayer, and Biblical advising.

· Perform wedding ceremonies according to the Biblical definition of marriage between one man and one woman.

· Lead funerals, baptisms, and baby dedications
