Job: Director of Daycare Ministry

The Basics:

Cedar Heights Christian Daycare is located at Cedar Heights Baptist Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas. The daycare has approximately 90 kids and 35 employees.

We are looking for an individual that is not only qualified, but has a heart for children and a desire to see children learn about the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is a childcare facility, but it is also a ministry of Cedar Heights.

This individual would hire new employees, manage current employees, make schedules, ensure daycare is within DHS regulations, ensure the safety and well-being of the children, communicate to parents, work underneath the supervision of Lead Pastor, and become a member of Cedar Heights.

SUMMARY

Cedar Heights Christian Daycare (CHCDC) is an outreach ministry of Cedar Heights Baptist Church that nurtures the weekday education and spiritual growth of infants through school age and their parents.

The CHCDC Director manages and administers the weekday Preschool and After School Care program according to the Arkansas Department of Human Services licensing requirements as set forth in the Minimum Licensing Requirements for Child Care Centers and with the advisement and recommendations set forth by the Cedar Heights Day Care Committee and the Pastor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Greet and Receive Parents and visitors
Maintain office switchboard and incoming messages
Triage problems and incoming information and direct these to the correct staff member
Primary training of volunteer, part-time and full-time staff. This includes retraining staff in problem areas, coordinating staff training events, maintaining future employee training manual, being knowledgeable of
DHS rules and regulations, and keeping abreast of new teaching methods and professional standards for teachers.
Maintain accurate child records according to DHS regulations
Assist with special ministries, events and In-house fieldtrips
First responder to child illness and injury.
Supervise organization of Teacher Resource room and mailboxes
Supervise special projects
Assist teachers and staff with research and written communication (newsletters, letters to staff and parents, curriculum ideas, bulletin boards, proofing etc.)
Maintain office calendar and alert office personnel of upcoming meetings and deadlines
Basic administrative procedures (filing, coping, laminating, publishing)
Maintain records: (Van attendance, employee phone list, work/calendar request, original copies, major incident log, Drill checklist, child product safety log, etc.)
CHCDC Tour coordinator for waiting list parents
Distribute information about our program
Alert CHBC Outreach Ministry of prospects seeking information about CHBC
Charged with the responsibility of ensuring the safety and well-being of all children, entrusted in the care of the center.
To pray for the CHCDC and seek God’s direction in management decisions
To continue to seek out and assist ministry opportunities among staff and families.
To keep the Day Care Committee and the Pastor abreast of the finances, enrollment, policy changes and curriculum choices.
To recommend policies for the further development of the school
To recruit and retain top quality faculty and staff members
To develop and work within the annual budget
To maintain a proper relationship with Department of Health and Human Services Supervision
To encourage all staff to develop their relationship with God
To encourage teachers to pursue continued education in their field
To encourage all staff to be actively participating in their church family
To coordinate an annual employee evaluation of all staff each year
Conduct staff meetings and training meetings
Oversee disciplinary problems
Maintain accurate accounting and projections of income
Encourage harmony among staff members
Meet weekly with staff and oversee their work (a weekly staff meeting)
Work in Cooperation with all Cedar Heights Baptist Church ministries
Cooperate with and follow policies and procedures of Cedar Heights Baptist Church
Attend and participate in church staff meetings
Maintain a current calendar of all church events to avoid conflicting programs
Sharing space with other ministries
Prepare annual school budget
Oversee collection of all tuition moneys along with the Financial Secretary
Develop security procedures for safe guarding cash and checks at the school
Make annual recommendations for improving salaries and job benefits
Monitoring Purchasing and Receiving for daily operations

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and be at least 21 years old. The essential duties listed above and the requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required. In addition, the Director must be a professing and practicing Christian that reflects a Christian faith in his/her personal and professional life. This should be reflected in the children, parents and employees on a day to day basis. Director must be/become a member of Cedar Heights Baptist Church. This is a church staff position.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum educational and experience requirements set forth by the Arkansas Department of Human Services, as found in the Minimum Licensing Requirements for Child Care Centers section 302.

Required: Must provide documentation of one of the following educational levels:

Bachelor’s Degree or higher Degree in Early Childhood, Child Development or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university. (Determination of “related field” shall be made by the Division)
Bachelor’s Degree in a non-related field from a regionally accredited college or university plus one of the following (1)Four years of experience in early childhood education (2) Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) (3) Birth – Pre K Credential.
Associate’s degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, or a related field, plus six (6) years of experience in Early Childhood Education.
Eight (8) years of experience in Early Childhood Education and completion of one of the following, within two year of employment : (1) Child Development Associate Credential (2) Birth – Pre K Credential (3) Director’s Credential or the equivalent (4) Technical Certificate in Early Childhood Education
