North Brewton Baptist Church in Brewton, AL is seeking either a part time Music Director or a full time Music and Student Director.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTION FOR MUSIC

The Music Director portion of this position is responsible to the pastor for assisting in the planning, conducting, and evaluation of the music ministry.

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR MUSIC

Assist the church in realizing its mission of glorifying God and evangelizing our community.
Assist the pastor in planning congregational services of the church; be responsible for the selection and leadership of the music.
Direct choirs, music groups and congregational singing. Arrange for someone else to fill in when absent.
Provide music for weddings, funerals, and special events as requested.
Identify and encourage individuals in the church to develop and use musical gifts.
Maintain the music library in an orderly manner.
Ensure adequate care, maintenance, and use of musical instruments.
Oversee sound and lighting.
Make annual recommendations to the stewardship committee for music budget needs.
Perform other duties as assigned by the pastor.
Serve on the church leadership team (CLT) and work cooperatively in the planning, scheduling, and promotion of music events.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTION FOR STUDENT MINISTRY

The Student Director portion of this position is responsible to the pastor for assisting in the planning, conducting, and evaluation of a comprehensive ministry to students in coordination with the total mission of the church.

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR STUDENT MINISTRY

Develop a strategy for evangelizing students by sharing the gospel with them.
Develop a program for making disciples of the students, incorporating mission education and experiences.
Provide opportunities for student’s involvement in the ministries and services of the church.
Evaluate the effectiveness of the student ministry and strengthen discovered weaknesses.
Promote program events to students, congregation, and the community.
Select, enlist, and train student ministry leaders.
Select and provide materials and equipment necessary in reaching students.
Neatly maintain student ministry areas, equipment, and resource materials.
Submit an annual student ministry budget to the stewardship ministry team upon request.
Serve on the church leadership team for the planning, scheduling, and promoting of student ministry events.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

Growing Christian of good character who is able to affirm church’s statement of faith (Baptist Faith and Message, 2000) and commit to live in accordance with the church’s membership covenant. Ability and willingness to join church (along with family if applicable).
Team player attitude.
Ability to lead congregational singing and work with the accompanist and choir.
A good ear for music; ability to read music is a plus.
Prior ministry experience with music and/or students a plus.
