The ideal candidate will be:

A seasoned pastor with experience leading, casting vision and implementing ministry programs
A shepherd with a missional heart and a desire to help the church reach their community and share their faith in their everyday lives
A strong preacher and Bible teacher who loves helping people learn how to seek and walk with Christ

POSITION OVERVIEW

Christ Church is looking for a Lead Pastor to facilitate new relationships in the community in helping us achieve our mission to reach unchurched people in the Sterling & Rock Falls area. Christ Church is a 3-year-old church plant in Sterling, Illinois, affiliated with the Evangelical Free Church of America. We have been holding services for two years, and have a healthy congregation of about 80 people, with many young families and a very seasoned and spiritually mature core team, many of whom have experience in foreign missions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Build rhythms into the life of the church for forming Christ-centered habits together (i.e. prayer, solitude, scripture meditation) that will grow our daily experience of our union with Jesus.
Lead us in bringing Christ to each other through weekly worship gatherings that exalt God and edify the members.
Cultivate a family culture in the church by facilitating and encouraging both formal and spontaneous small gatherings throughout the week. Help members participate in the life of the church in ways that align with their gifts, experiences and abilities.
Develop and implement a strategy that will enable us to work together to bring Christ to those in our sphere of influence who do not yet know him. Build collaborative relationships with other local churches to support these outreach efforts.
