CHILDREN’S MINISTRY DIRECTOR

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The CHILDREN’S MINISTRY DIRECTOR will be in agreement with and publicly support the statement of faith of the CBC Constitution and the CBC bylaws.

Under the direction of the Senior Pastor, the Children’s Ministry Director assumes responsibility for organizing the children’s ministry of Clayton Baptist Church which includes infants to sixth graders. The ministry includes Sunday programing, Wednesday night AWANA Club, and summer Vacation Bible School. In addition, the Director will collaborate with parents and teachers to share the Gospel with children in an age-appropriate scale.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Encourage children, parents, and leaders to follow Jesus in all matters of life and make childhood disciples of Christ.

· Oversee all children’s curriculum to meet the Clayton Baptist Church mission statement.

· Plan and direct Vacation Bible School and Wednesday night AWANA Club.

· Maintain a safe and secure environment for children, parents, and leaders.

· Recruit, train, and supervise all children’s Sunday School teachers.

· Recruit, train, and supervise all childcare volunteers.

· Recruit, train, and supervise all AWANA workers.

· Remind leaders, teachers, volunteers, and workers about upcoming events

· Provide or implement systems for supplying and sanitizing classrooms and nursery.

· Supplement curriculum with online option as needed.

· Annually review all Children’s Ministry Policies and update as necessary.

· Perform all other duties as assigned.

PRINCIPAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

· Honorably and actively follow Jesus Christ as his or her personal Lord and savior.

· Demonstrate word, database, and spreadsheet processing and management.

· Investigate, research, and analyze facts for sound leadership decisions.

· Make sound leadership decisions within the confines of the Child Protection Policy.

· Communicate in a Christ-like manner with the staff, congregation, and local community.

· Appropriately handle confidential information of any nature.

· Realize that his or her performance, dedication, attitude, and actions are under the scrutiny of the staff, congregation, and local community.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Preferred 2 or 4-year degree in Childhood Education or Christian Education

BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS:

· You will need to pass a background check before accepting the position.
