The Washington Baptist Association of the Georgia Baptist Mission Board is seeking to fill the position of Associational Mission Strategist (DOM). This is a full time position.

1. Principle Function — To lead this Association to become more faithful, effective and efficient in fulfilling its mission. The Associational Mission Strategist has a single, three-dimensional role. The three dimensions are mission strategist, minister to the churches and church leaders, and general leader of the Association.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work with and assist association organizations and leaders. This involves organizing the Association in order to carry out its objectives, working with the Executive Committee, the Association Council, the program organization leaders, and various other committees to develop the leadership team of the Association.

Work with and assist churches. This involves assisting churches in fulfilling their mission, making regular and crisis visits to churches and being a resource person to the churches, prioritizing in order of needs. This may also involve teaching and preaching for the churches of the Washington Baptist Association.

Strengthen relationships among the churches. This emphasizes the concept of Association as a family of churches or as a network, in which churches give and receive assistance among themselves. It involves a conscious fostering of fellowship and mutual commitment between and among the churches. The creation of an environment in which churches want to be on mission together is the essence of this function.

Work with and assist pastors. This involves being a pastor to pastors, relating to the Association Pastors’ Fellowship, conferring with pastors, orienting new pastors in the Association, developing pastoral support systems, providing growth opportunities for pastors, and using wise judgment assisting in church/pastor conflicts as requested by the churches.

Provide missionary leadership. This involves leading the Association of churches to develop and maintain a mission perspective, instigating or starting new work, establishing points of witness, using program organizations in mission work, and interpreting to the Association the needs of the persons in the Association’s territory for evangelism, ministry or missions attention. Facilitate the enlistment, placement, training, and supervision of volunteers functioning as mission strategists for the Association.

Provide general leadership and administration. This involves leadership for the entire Association, such as planning, organizing, enlisting, equipping, guiding, coordinating, and evaluating the total work of the Association. The Associational Mission Strategist shall be responsible for the planning of the Executive Committee and Annual Meetings.

Maintain denominational and other external relationships. This involves denominational and public relations as well as being a channel of denominational resources and information to the local churches.

Office, business, and staff management. This includes staff supervision, publication of Association documents, and other administrative responsibilities, including overseeing the maintenance of the Association’s physical properties.
