Double Springs Baptist Church can best be understood by listing a few descriptions: we are a multi-generational SBC church; we have blended music in our worship services that incorporates a praise team and praise band, and most of our songs are currently heard on Christian radio; we have Sunday School and home groups; we have one weekly worship service – Sundays at 10:30am; Wednesday night is just for our children’s and youth ministries; we have about 30 regular AWANA kids and 15-20 regular youth; we have a gym that is in constant use by us and our community; we have no debt; we are intentionally growing younger. Our preaching is down-to-earth, relevant, and while sometimes topical, mostly expository.

We have had a part-time youth pastor and a part-time children’s pastor for several years. Both are leaving soon (seminary, retiring) and we want to combine both roles into one full-time position. We currently have no Sunday night services, so all of our family ministry takes place on Wednesday nights from 6:30-7:45pm. While this role would require the Family Pastor to be the primary youth/student ministry leader, this pastor would also be responsible for managing our children’s ministry. There are several ways to accomplish this, and options will be discussed and considered with the candidate.

We are located in the Taylors/Greer area of Greenville, SC, about ten minutes from Greer, Travelers Rest, and North Greenville University (SBC), and about 20 minutes from downtown Greenville.

Qualifications

1. A personal and growing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ

2. Called to minister both to children and youth

3. A ministry degree from a conservative Christian college/seminary

4. Agreement with the Baptist Faith & Message 2000

5. Teachable, cooperative, self-starting

Responsibilities

Youth/Students – 45%

1. Manage all aspects of the ministry, including annual camps, retreats, mission trips, and regular events and outings.

2. Be the primary youth teacher for weekly outreach service and Sunday School

3. Recruit and train volunteers

4. Communicate with parents regularly and timely

Children – 45%

1. Manage all aspects of the ministry (AWANA on Wednesday nights, Sunday School, etc.), including Vacation Bible School, KidSalt Camp (www.kidsalt.org), and seasonal events.

2. Not the primary teacher for any of these areas, but teach and lead often enough that you are seen as the leader and able to form relationship with the leaders, children, and their parents.

3. Recruit and train volunteers

4. Communicate with parents regularly and timely.

Pastoral Duties – 10%

1. Work closely with pastor and staff to assist with various pastoral tasks and pastoral care.

2. Participate in our worship service each Sunday.

Compensation

$35,000 range
