Without a doubt, one of the most challenging roles within the church is that of Student and College Pastor. Ministering across age divisions and life experiences while leading a team of volunteers requires skillful navigation, sharp wisdom and spiritual maturity. But few things are as rewarding as seeing the lives of students transformed, redirected and empowered by Jesus.

We are prayerfully seeking God’s choice to lead our Student and College Ministry in the next steps in growth and to reach our families, community, and world for Christ.

This enthusiastic team player should possesses the God-given call and real-world skills to reach, teach and equip students to lead Christ-centered lives.

Main Responsibilities

• Provide consistent leadership and collaborative team-building as a member of the Easthaven Team.

• Safeguard theological accuracy while teaching biblically-based lessons/sermons with real-world application across age ranges.

• Create and champion engaging worship, prayer, service and community-building environments for students.

• Lead and equip students in personal evangelism. “Make disciples who make disciples.”

• Ensure consistent connection with and growth of students by providing them equipping, communication, and community opportunities to develop as disciples.

• Plan, promote and execute local and global mission projects for students.

• Build and maintain a trusting and consistent connection with parents both in informational meetings and by regular communication.

• Maintain and monitor all communications for Student and College Ministries including, but not limited to, email / group text, Sunday worship guide, website, social media, and local publications.

• Grow the Student and College Ministry Volunteer Team by providing consistent leadership, constructive feedback and training opportunities.

• Create ways for parental involvement and volunteering to take place on a consistent basis.

• Engage and involve college students in the area via outreach, campus visits, events and other avenues.

• Plan events, activities, service/mission opportunities and camps for large and small groups.

• Improve the quality of our student ministry service, evidenced partly by increased attendance and deeper participation.

• Any other duties as required/assigned to further the overall mission, vision and strategy of Easthaven.

Position Requirements

• A personal, vibrant and growing commitment to Jesus.

• Be in alignment with Easthaven’s purpose, mission, values, strategy and beliefs.

• Meet the qualifications for pastoral leadership as described in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.

• Must be a “cultural fit,” but more importantly, a “cultural enhancer” for established team/staff/church.

• Demonstrate conflict resolution, creative thinking and problem-solving skills.

• Must lead and manage various aspects of the church’s ministry (including numerous volunteers).

• A successful record of planning and execution and an unquestioned ability to “get things done, whatever it takes.”

• A heart for students for students across age divisions (middle school to college-aged) and a desire for them to know Christ and grow in his likeness.

• Demonstrate a heart in building community and reaching the lost.

• Strong teaching ability—able to teach the Bible in engaging, creative ways while maintaining doctrinal accuracy.

• Maintain a high level of confidentiality. Be congenial, professional, business-like in all personal contacts with others.

• Exercise good time management skills and demonstrate strong work ethic.

• Maintain a high level of excellence in appearance, work habits and quality of work performed.

• Clear and effective communication skills (speaking and writing).

• College degree preferred. However, experience and God’s calling are more important.

Reporting and Communication

This position reports to the Senior Pastor (and/or Executive Pastor) and communicates all appropriate information (whether verbally or in written form) in an accurate and timely manner.
