First Baptist Church, DeKalb, TX is searching for a full time Children’s Minister

FBC DeKalb, TX is a Christ-centered, gospel-driven church in North East Texas near the Oklahoma and Arkansas state lines. Average Attendance: 225

The Children’s Minister will be responsible for overseeing the planning, coordinating, and implementation of children’s ministry (birth-6th grades) for FBC DeKalb. This includes outreach to children in the community as well as discipleship to existing children leading each student into a growing dynamic relationship with Jesus. We envision the FBC DeKalb Children Ministry to be a growing student community of Bible preaching, relationship building, memory making, and evangelistic engagement, while building partnerships between church, home, and the community. This position will provide experience in a committed ministry while being mentored in a growing local church. Additionally, the children’s minister will give oversight to our Student Sunday School and Children’s Church Ministry.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

Vision & Leadership

Provide leadership to our Children’s Ministry through Bible teaching and discipling.
Oversee communication (i.e monthly preaching schedule, trimester activity calendar, social media, etc), making sure that opportunities for community and growth are clear to students, volunteers & parents.

Ministry Environments

Oversee, plan, and coordinate the weekly Children’s Ministry programming for Elementary School, Middle School & PreSchool, as well as the occasional monthly activity/annual events (e.g. summer camp, retreats, and activities).
Ensure that safety and security procedures are followed in the Children’s Ministry.
Work under the leadership of the Senior Pastor, seeking the advice/counsel of other ministers, while cultivating and incorporating volunteers.

Spiritual Formation

Meet regularly with students for discipleship and encouragement
Equip parents in the spiritual development of their students through helpful resources.
Develop strategies to welcome and support new families to the Children’s Ministry by partnering with guests, existing attendees and members.

Education & Experience: pursuing a degree in a ministry related field and/or experience in leading a church children’s ministry.

Must successfully pass a background check
