First Baptist Church of Branford was established in the late 1800’s and in the last thirty years has experienced growth and faced many challenges. It was during this time that the Church would grow to four hundred plus attendees on Sunday and build a Christian Life Center. Today, the Church will average fifty to sixty attendees of which are an older, very dedicated group of believers. Our membership and our attendance are closely aligned as well as our small group numbers.

Our Church is located in rural North Florida in the southern part of Suwannee County on the scenic and historic Suwannee River. Our community has a population of approximately 750 residents with a median age of 37.8 years. Of this population our community is comprised of nearly 7 percent non-US born citizens. The town services a much larger population that extends ten plus miles in any direction creating a community that is far larger than the town itself making Branford a central hub of activity both with its schools, businesses and churches. We recognize that the Church is not representative of our community and we are looking for leadership that will provide wisdom and guidance to assist us in furthering the Kingdom of God here in Branford.

Our purpose is to be a healthy Church and that our first love is to, as it is written in Deuteronomy 6:5, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.” That we may be as the Church Peter describes in I Peter 2 when says we are to be “living Stones”, “a spiritual house”, a “royal priesthood”, a “chosen race”, a “holy nation”, “God’s own possession”, the “people of God” so that we might “proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called us out of darkness into His marvelous light.”

Even as we begin our search for a senior Pastor we are moving forward with studies on spiritual disciplines, what it means to be a healthy Church, and other opportunities to reach our community for His Kingdom. We do not want to be found idle but found seeking God to direct His good works through us so that men may see our light.
