Minister of Worship

Location: First Baptist Church of Universal City, Texas

Position Summary:

First Baptist Church of Universal City, located in the San Antonio area, is currently accepting resumes for a full-time Minister of Worship to provide leadership in the area of Worship Ministry through planning, conducting and evaluating a comprehensive music ministry that moves the Church toward the accomplishment of her goals and objectives. Desired Skills and Experience:

1. The Minister of Worship should have a college degree, either having a degree in music or having completed college-level music studies. An earned Master’s degree from a recognized seminary is desirable.

2. Experience – It is desirable that the Minister of Worship have successful experience in the field of Church music and worship leadership and should have demonstrated skill in working with Church groups of various ages. The Minister should have experience in giving leadership to Blended and Contemporary worship services.

Specific Duties:

1. Work alongside the leadership of the Pastor in developing meaningful Blended and Contemporary worship experiences.

2. Supervise and coordinate the needs of the paid staff, volunteer leaders and needs of the Worship ministries including but not limited to:

A. Contemporary Worship Leader and Band

B. Children and Youth Choirs (4 yrs. to 12th grade)

C. Adult Choir

D. Everlasting Praise Choir (Senior Adults)

E. Adult Handbell Choir

F. Orchestra

G. Wednesday Night Worship Leadership

H. School of Worship Arts

I. Major Events Team

J. Tech Crew

3. Evaluate the needs of the Worship Ministry of the Church in order to supervise and coordinate the enlistment of voluntary leaders, and maintain and grow this ministry.

4. Evaluate the needs of the leadership in the Worship Ministry. Plan, lead, and/or supervise necessary study and training events to provide effective leaders who initiate and maintain these ministries.

5. Supervise paid worship ministry staff members.

6. Supervise and coordinate the needs of the Worship Ministry in planning and scheduling, to include: budgeting to procure equipment, instruments, materials, supplies; maintenance and repair of equipment, instruments, etc.

7. Stay current in personal and professional growth in order to understand and use effective methods and means that provide quality worship experiences as well as maintain and grow the Worship Ministry.

8. Be available to serve as counsel concerning music for weddings and funerals. Supervise the providing of musicians or other fine arts teams for weddings, funerals and other special events when requested.

9. The Minister will prepare requests for Worship Ministry funds in the annual budget cycle.

10. The Minister will perform other duties and pastoral ministry duties such as home and hospital visitations and counseling as needed.
