PASTOR OF MISSIONS & DISCIPLESHIP – ROCKY MOUNT CAMPUS

Primary Function:

To lead our SENT church to grow deeper in our relationship with Jesus by providing kingdom leadership in the areas of missions and discipleship. This pastor will oversee all small groups, discipleship groups, Bible study groups and Connect Groups connected with the ministry of Franklin Heights Church. In the area of missions, this person will plan, conduct, and evaluate comprehensive programs in national and international mission services. This pastor would work with and under the direction of the Campus Pastor, Bobby Young, as a member of the pastoral team to enable the church to focus on the Great Commission and to be equipped to carry out the functions of the New Testament church.

Responsibilities:

Discipleship

Develop and maintain a comprehensive system for continuous spiritual growth in cooperation with the Campus Pastor by helping people become passionate disciples of Christ in their worship, walk and work.
Work with the Campus Pastor to plan, conduct and direct the discipleship ministries.
Evaluate and supervise the purchasing of educational aids, supplies and curriculum and coordinate room assignments as appropriate for maintaining discipleship/Connect Group programs. Encourage existing discipleship/Connect Groups and strategically launch new groups to encourage spiritual growth.
Work with the appropriate staff (i.e., Student Pastor, NextGen Pastor) and the nominating committee to enlist volunteers and set the organizational structure of the Christian education ministries.
Work with the Outreach Pastor, coordinate assimilation, and help transition visitors from guests into involved members, including guest follow-up and membership classes. Pressing toward the goal of incorporating every church member into a Connect Group.
Increase the percentage of church members actively participating in small groups and church ministries.
Train up leaders to lead new small groups and Connect Groups.
Develop a discipleship process for the men of Franklin Heights to strengthen the Men’s Ministry and to promote accountability.
Oversee and coordinate a process of discipleship for new believers.

Missions

1. Collaborate with the Senior Pastor to develop a vision for the mission involvement of FHC nationally and internationally.

2. Develop partnerships with IMB missionaries around the world and seek opportunities for FHC to serve alongside the IMB in reaching the world with the Gospel.

3. Fulfill the Great Commission of a SENT church by identifying mission opportunities, building evangelism teams, coordinating trips, and building long-term partnerships while spreading the Gospel.

4. Challenge, motivate, and recruit church members for active roles in FHC Missions Ministry.

5. Plan and support Missions Ministry events including marketing efforts—website, social media, and print materials.

General

Prepare and submit an annual budget request, working with the Campus Pastor and Finance Committee in budget analysis and supervision of all budget categories under the position’s specific ministry assignments.
Participate in basic ministry assignments such as hospital visitation, outreach visitation, and public leadership in the congregation.
Lead in congregational services and pastoral care as requested by the Campus Pastor.
Participate in staff meetings to better coordinate discipleship opportunities.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Campus/Senior Pastor.

Born-again Christian with a deep, personal relationship with Jesus who believes the Bible is God-breathed and accurate
Strong interpersonal and communications skills with children, students, and adults
Self-motivated with high energy, able to manage the creation, planning and implementation of ministry
Team player who is willing to help wherever needed and is supportive of all ministries of the church
Ability to function efficiently and professionally while multi-tasking
Willing and able to work independently or with others, depending on what the project requires
Trustworthy, understands how to manage confidential information appropriately
Approachable and adaptable in collaborating with volunteers, staff, and congregation

Educational/Work Requirements:

A college degree in a related field of ministry is preferable, a seminary background would be a plus. The ideal candidate’s experience would include:

Volunteer work within the church or community
Work week consists of Sunday-Thursday. Additional time will be required for special events, outreach, funerals, and weddings.
Live within a 30-mile radius of the church unless special permission, based on circumstances, is permitted by the Senior Pastor
Job requires the ability to drive a car and have a valid driver’s license.
Must be physically able to perform job responsibilities.
