HIGHLAND BAPTIST CHURCH Music Director Job Description (Part-time or Bi-vocational) Highland Baptist Church is seeking to fill a part-time position responsible for leading worship in a blended music environment.

General Qualifications

• Must be a born-again Christian

• Meeting the 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, and 1 Peter 5 qualifications for church leaders

• Commitment to HBC’s doctrine, vision, values, and beliefs (visit hbcfamily.com for beliefs and doctrine)

• Commitment to a team approach to ministry

• Relational style of leadership and ministry

• Proficiency to lead worship (preferred both vocally and with a guitar and/or keyboard)

• Able to work without direct supervision

• Experience in leading worship in a blended style setting preferred

• GED or High School Diploma required, continued education preferred

Responsibilities

1. Provide leadership, vision, and passion in the area of music worship ministry, in a manner consistent with the overall vision and mission of HBC.

2. Take the lead in creating and implementing new worship opportunities which align with the mission and vision at HBC.

3. Coordinate with the pastoral staff to create well-planned and engaging Sunday worship services. This includes leading the Sunday worship service and overseeing the worship team (vocalists and instrumentalists). Responsibilities include preparation for and leading rehearsals, as well as consulting with the pastoral staff to coordinate the music for the Sunday service.

4. Develop and administer an annual budget for the worship ministry in accordance with the financial policies of the church.

5. Attend staff meetings periodically at the direction of the pastoral staff.

6. Assist in planning, implementing and leading worship for special events outside of Sunday worship services when needed, such as funerals.

7. Coordinate with the sound system technicians for worship services, rehearsals, and special events.

8. Prepare Music for the Tarheel Challenge Academy worship services.

Other Responsibilities

• Work with the Senior Pastor and keep the pastoral staff informed of any pertinent situations that arise regarding the worship ministry.

• It is anticipated that the duties associated with this position will take approximately 15 hours per week.
