Candidate Profile

· Must be a born-again believer

· Must affirm the Baptist Faith and Message 2000

· Must exhibit the qualifications of a pastor/elder as set forth in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9

· Should display the spiritual gifts and maturity appropriate for this position, including teaching (Ephesians 4:11), shepherding (Ephesians 4:11), exhortation (Romans 12:8), faith (1Corinthians 12:9), administration (1Corinthians 12:28), leadership (Romans 12:8), and discernment (1Corinthians 12:10)

· Should have formal or informal ministry experience; bachelor’s degree is preferred with ongoing education in ministry

· Should thrive within a team environment, including church ministry staff, administrative teams, and LBC members

Responsibilities

Worship

· Instructing and encouraging the congregation in expressions of worship that are in alignment with a biblically derived theology of worship and the vision statement of the church

· Actively support and carry out the mission and vision of the Church through various aspects of ministry

· Understands the role worship through music plays in the discipleship of the church, and chooses biblically faithful songs that encourage growth in that process

· Will oversee, lead, coordinate all weekly services as it concerns the musical aspects of those services

· Recruit, train, equip, and provide pastoral leadership within the Worship Ministry Team, including conducting ongoing discipleship for team members

· Schedule members of the Worship Ministry Team to carry out its ministries and work with them to set standards for participation and performance

· Ensure that events are supported with necessary media technology

· Prepare an annual Music Budget to be presented to the Finance Committee

· The man called to this position will also be expected to exhibit competence in other pastoral duties as needs arise within the church (preaching/teaching, visiting, etc.)

Missions

· Direct the evaluation, planning, and performance of mission opportunities on a local, national, and international scale

· Help recruit volunteers for mission opportunities within the church (service projects, VBS, outreach opportunities, etc.)

· Maintain and develop relationships with overseas mission partners and create opportunities to serve these partners by praying, giving, going, and serving

· Collaborate with Children’s, Student, and Adult ministries to connect all ages to mission opportunities

· Coordinate and execute local mission projects for LBC community groups

· Prepare an annual budget proposal to include mission responsibilities to be recommended to the finance committee

· Oversee and implement fundraising for mission needs within the church leadership’s areas of focus
