Dear Pastoral Candidate:

Just to introduce ourselves to you, we are a Southern Baptist Church who has recently rejoined the Feather River Baptist Association/California Southern Baptist Association. We are in a rural community, surrounded by farmland, with a large Spanish population.

We are looking for a pastor to provide the leadership of our congregation as we press forward with the Great Commission. Our ideal pastor would be someone with a proven record of being able to reach out to the community and draw people to us. We presently have about seven active members, all adults. Two of our senior saints [70+] are Bible College graduates, who have assumed teaching and preaching responsibilities. We would prefer someone who was somewhat younger to help the Spirit breathe life back into our church and appeal to a younger constituency. We deeply desire a man who will make a long-term agape commitment to join our church family.

Also, it has been the historic practice of the Bible-believing evangelical churches in the Lower Klamath Basin [Merrill, OR; Malin, OR; and Tulelake, CA] to share fellowship across denominational barriers, seeing each other as beloved brothers and sisters in Christ. This includes the Refuge Assemblies of God Church of Malin. We would expect our pastor to continue to foster this bond.

Our church property, including a parsonage, is debt free. The parsonage is a three-bedroom double-wide mobile home. There is a two-car carport. The front yard is fenced. The backyard is on 2 sides. This would be freely available to our pastor and his family.

We are able to provide garbage service and water/sewer expenses. At this time, there is not much to offer in the way of a salary directly from our congregation, but the FRBA Director of Missions, “J” Ballard, said that there is the possibility of some money through the Association and State convention. His initial estimate was around $1,000 pr month support. There would be a set time limit on the extent of this support. However, those details would need to be worked out with him. Some of our pastors in the past have taken part time jobs to augment their financial needs.
