Job Description – Associate Pastor to Students
Accountable to – Senior Pastor
Category – Full-Time Staff
Payroll – Salary, Non-Exempt
Work Hours – To be determined

Position Summary
Under the supervision and support of the Senior Pastor, it will be the main purpose of the Associate Pastor to Students to lead the church’s ministries of Students K – Young Adults with the goal of helping them and their families grow in Christ’s likeness.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Experience: At lease two years experience working with students.
2. Education: University or College degree. Seminary or Bible College training or working toward degree.
3. Knowledge, Skills, and Gifts:
A. Excellent grasp of the Word of God
B. Ability to communicate (orally and written) effectively
C. Giftedness in teaching, shepherding, and equipping
D. Ability to connect with students and their families on a personal level
E. Lead with skillfulness and integrity
F. Ability to cast and uphold the vision of NHBC Student Ministry

4. Physical Demands: May be called upon to lift, pull, bend, carry or push as needed.
Participate in children and youth physical activities.

2. Biblically qualified to be a pastor according to the Scriptures
3. Have a passion for students and families

7. Possess a servant’s heart

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

1. Develop relationships with students and families in a way that reflects Christ’s character.

2. Lead students to grow in Christ’s likeness by helping them develop a relationship with God and/or deepen their relationship with Him.

3. Serve as a resource for students in their various development needs.

4. Work with Senior Pastor, leaders and lay members to develop and create developmentally appropriate discipleship programs.

5. Participate in extracurricular activities of students and their families (i.e. sporting events, special occasions, etc)

6. Work with Nominating Committee to recruit, scree, train and release for service lay leadership for student programming, activities, and events.

7. Perform administrative duties under the direction of the Senior Pastor such as:
A. Keep regular office hours
B. Attend business, staff, church council and relevant committee meetings
C. Schedule meetings and work with appropriate committees or ministry groups in relation to associated projects, ministries, and/or duties of the Associate Pastor
D. Fill pulpit in absence of Senior Pastor

8. Provide overall visionary and strategic leadership for NHBC’s Student Ministry

9. Plan and oversee mid-week Student Bible Study and activities

10. Teach students on a regular basis with well-rehearsed, Bible-based, applicable lessons

11. Plan and organize retreats, summer camps, mission trips, etc. This may include:
A. Social media messaging
B. Coordinate time, place, date, cost, food, accommodations, transportation, etc of events
C. Promote event during congregational gatherings

12. Responsible for Student Ministry budget and financial oversight

13. Monitor health and effectiveness of groups

14. Provide assistance to Senior Pastor as needed
