Reynoldsburg Baptist Church (RBC) is accepting resumes and recommendations for a pastor to provide leadership to our music and youth ministries. Assisting our lead pastor in giving pastoral leadership to our congregation, the Pastor of Music & Youth will guide these ministries as elements of our congregational pursuit of deepening our biblical convictions, cultivating Christian community, fostering Christ-like change, and advancing our Christ-given commission.

Summary of Responsibilities

At present, the music portion of our congregational worship consists of a combination of traditional and contemporary hymns led by a praise team and accompanied instrumentally by piano and cello. Some aspects of our music ministry (choirs, etc.) have yet to resume in the wake of the impacts of COVID on our scheduling and activities. This pastor will provide primary leadership to all aspects of the RBC music ministries consistent with, as part of, and in order to advance our congregational commitments and priorities. He will advance a biblical understanding of worship across all areas of RBC’s music ministry and will direct (or delegate direction for) each of RBC’s individual music ministries.

At present, our youth ministry includes students in 7th through 12th grades. Our youth regularly meet for Sunday School on Sunday mornings and Bible study on Wednesday evenings. Currently, additional youth ministry activities (service, missions, and fellowship) are led primarily by parents and other youth leaders. This pastor will lead all aspects of RBC’s youth ministry consistent with, as part of, and in order to advance our congregational commitments and priorities. In partnership with the Lead Pastor, the Pastor of Music and Youth will equip parents (and other guardians) of students to be the primary spiritual mentors of their children involved in the RBC youth ministry, while also leading and equipping other RBC members to provide spiritual guidance to youth involved in RBC youth ministries, especially in instances where parents (or other guardians) are not actively involved at RBC.

This pastor will advance a biblical understanding of the gospel and the Christian life across all areas of RBC’s youth ministry, with particular consideration given to equip students to live for Christ while they are part of the youth ministry and to prepare them to pursue increasing biblical faithfulness as adults. He will direct (or delegate direction for) the educational, service, missions, and fellowship aspects of the youth ministry.

Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits will be in accordance with the Employment Benefits Policy of Reynoldsburg Baptist Church.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate will meet the following minimum qualifications:

Satisfy the biblical qualifications for a pastor (e.g., 1 Tim 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9).
Satisfy and fulfill the requirements of membership, including agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
Values biblical convictions, Christian community, Christ-like change, and the Great Commission.
Proficiency in congregational music leadership, as well as the ability to lead smaller groups of vocalists and/or instrumentalists (e.g., praise team, choir, instrumentalists, etc.). Preferably the successful candidate will also have experience in musical arrangement.
Expertise in playing one or more musical instruments (preferably, at least, piano).
Experience in leading at least one youth/collegiate-level ministry program.
Completed bachelor’s degree (preferably working on or completed a ministry-oriented master’s-level degree).
Proficiency with word processing and basic presentation and image-editing software.
Familiarity with analog and digital sound and lighting equipment.
Ability to communicate with and relate well to children, youth, and adults of all ages.
