River Oaks Church Minister of Music Job Description River Oaks Church is seeking an experienced, full-time Minister of Music (see below if interested in part-time*). The Minister of Music will oversee the worship ministries of River Oaks Church (ROC) and engage our church community in creative and vibrant worship, where God can be seen, people feel loved, and lives are being changed into wholehearted followers of Jesus. The Minister of Music must model Christ-like character and see their work as essential to discipling our church community, especially through music, scripture, and prayer. The Minister of Music is under the direction and supervision of the Lead Pastor and in cooperation with paid and volunteer staff in leading the church to deliver and implement an effective Christian music ministry. The Minister of Music will practice and uphold ROC’s Constitution and By-laws and will work together with staff, Elders and other ministry leaders. The Minister of Music will possess an understanding and knowledge of Scripture and be able to share God’s truth in a meaningful and effective way. The Minister of Music should aspire to the characteristics outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9, as well as, to be mindful of 1 Timothy 4:12; 2 Timothy 2:22 and 1 Peter 5:5

. River Oaks Church Minister of Music Spiritual Qualifications:

A mature relationship with Jesus Christ that is clearly exhibited in the Minister of Music’s life, demonstrating a desire for continued personal growth and development.
Be able to maintain proper priorities and balance in his personal life (spiritual, family, friends and work relationships).
Have a clear calling to full-time music ministry and a pastoral heart for people.
If married, his wife must also sense her husband’s calling to music ministry and support his calling.

River Oaks Church Minister of Music Ministry Qualifications:

Proficiency in leading worship with a strong vocal ability. Capability of leading with guitar and/or keyboard is essential. Confidence in speaking and praying is desired.
Able to provide leadership, vision, and passion for ROC in the area of music worship ministries that is in line with the overall vision, purpose, and mission of the church.
Able to utilize a mixture of current, contemporary and some updated hymns as an integral part of worship. In addition, the Minister of Music will be responsible for staying up to date on new trends in worship music.
Able to develop and integrate various worship team members coming from varying musical backgrounds.
Gifted and experienced in being a musician. Musical training is strongly desired.
Knowledge of livestreaming, sound equipment and mixing sound is desired, but will train if necessary.
ROC currently uses Planning Center and ProPresenter. Knowledge of those two programs is desired.
Utilize contemporary media tools for communication with music ministry team, families, staff, volunteers and leadership teams.
College or Seminary Degree is preferable, but a well grounded individual in biblical knowledge and theological understanding is a must.

River Oaks Church Minister of Music Responsibilities include:

Preparation, planning, musical and creative brainstorming, directing, and overseeing the ministry team involved in the weekly Sunday gatherings.
Shepherding ROC’s music ministry team by possessing a great deal of self-motivation, confidence, and the ability to lead others.
Strengthening individuals and the music ministry team by helping them grow in their spiritual formation.
Developing and mentoring individuals and the music ministry team in their knowledge of their instruments, vocals, sound, and technical capabilities.
Enjoy recruiting, training and facilitating volunteer workers to enhance the music ministry.
Overseeing all aspects of the Sunday Worship Service, as well as, additional ROC gatherings throughout the year (production, musical worship, audio/visuals, set-up and tear down, etc).
Have excellent organizational and leadership skills, as well as, showing financial responsibility to develop and administer an annual budget for the worship ministry in accordance with the financial policies of the church.
Performing general pastoral ministries of the church. The desire of ROC is for the Minister of Music to be part of the overall ministry of ROC. Therefore, the Minister of Music will be involved in ministries other than worship.

Competitive Salary (Commensurate with experience and qualifications).

*Part-Time employee will have responsibilities reduced to coincide with total hours per week and will focus on the Sunday Worship Service.
