Rothwell Street Baptist Church (RBC) is seeking a Pastor to lead the church to continue our mission as a New Testament church. Established in 1950, RBC is a debt free Missionary Baptist Church that is a member of the Savannah Baptist Association, the Georgia Baptist Convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention.

Located in Chatham County GA on a 5.75-acre campus, RBC is at the cross-roads of Interstate 95 and Interstate 16, about 20-minutes from historic Savannah, GA. Attendance for Sunday worship service averages 100 people (Post COVID) with the potential for growth in service to the community. Public schools for this area are Pooler Elementary, West Chatham Elementary, West Chatham Middle School, and New Hampstead High School.

Personal Qualities

• A strong communicator and listener who is energetic and good with members young and old.
• Sound character and integrity, meeting the biblical qualifications of an elder and overseer as defined in I Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
• A history of compassionate character, demonstrating the fruits of the Holy Spirit as listed in Galatians 5.
• A heart of humility evidenced in a willingness to shepherd and serve sacrificially.
• A deep commitment to prayer and personal time in God’s Word.

Requirements

• Be ordained as a Minister by a recognized Southern Baptist Church.
• Education should include a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited seminary; however, a Master’s degree is preferred.
• Minimum of five years of experience as a pastor. Associate pastoral experience within a large congregation. Interim
pastoral and/or equivalent experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a vital personal relationship with Jesus Christ through daily Bible Study and prayer.
• Proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to believers and unbelievers by preaching and believing the whole Bible, both Old and New Testament.
• Plan, prepare and lead original sermons during weekly worship services and the observance of ordinances as needed.
• Provide spiritual instruction and strategic leadership to RBC members, staff, committees, ministries, and Deacons.
• Be available for spiritual counseling, wedding and funeral services for the congregation as well as baptisms, baby dedications and ordinations.
• Lead the congregation in fulfilling the Great Commission with vision, purpose, and priority.
• Visit and minister routinely to members and prospective members in homes, nursing care facilities, hospitals, and as other circumstances dictate.
• Communicate with the congregation through various internal and external media.
• Be a visible member through participation in community and denominational events that bring glory to God and benefit the local population.
• Recognizes the Laity leadership’s responsibility in governance and works in cooperation with the Laity leadership and congregation to ensure compliance with the Church Constitution/bylaws and all adopted church policies and procedures.
