CARING MINISTRY ASSISTANT

JOB DESCRIPTION

Administrative support for the congregational care ministry of a large membership, multi-campus church with specific emphasis on Pastoral Care, Prayer, and Senior Adult Ministry.

Full-time, non-exempt. 40 hours/week; Monday through Friday and occasional Saturdays. Reports to the Lead Caring Ministry Pastor.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Spiritual maturity and strong passion for the Gospel message of Christ’s love and grace.
Strong team player with a willingness to complete a variety of tasks.
Ability to multitask, handle complex, sensitive and detail-oriented ministry situations.
Comfortable working with a high degree of flexibility
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
Excellent computer skills, including use of Word, Publisher, Excel
Ability to learn new computer programs, such as Event Pro and Rock
Comfortable talking and praying with people who are hurting and grieving

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Administrative Support

Phone, email and text correspondence

Schedule appointments
Assist those in need – refer to an organization, pastor, or counseling center
Respond to non-emergency answering service calls

Event Pro (EP) Scheduling

Create events for classes, memorial services, inurnments, groups

ROCK Database

Create program registrations
Update member profiles
Track hospitalizations, cancer, hospice, physical rehab, homebound, etc.
Run reports for Administrative Board

Distribute birth and sympathy cards to members as needed
Submit programming information to the media/communication team for publication
Update Care Ministry Website
Follow up with new member information received from Connecting Ministries
Coordinate with kitchen facilities
Liaison for Caring Ministries with outside support groups

Funeral and Grief Support

Funerals/Memorial Services

Liaison between church and families experiencing loss
Communicate with staff, funeral pastoral care team, and funeral homes
Communicate with the family for bulletin information
Coordinate with music department
Communicate with the media about family needs
Create funeral bulletins

Grief Support

Order program books, set up the room, update attendance
Stephen Ministry quarterly books letter preparation and mailouts
Coordinate with Boy Scouts for Poinsettia delivery
Generate and send letters and/or emails related to Grief Share program, Surviving the Holidays, All Saints Service, Loss of Spouse

Divorce Care Ministry

Send emails, schedule classes online, track registration

Meal Ministry

Communicate loss to Meal Ministry Team
Purchase cards and stamps

Job Search Ministry

Communicate with coordinator about community job openings

Recovery Groups
- Schedule rooms, update website, communicate with leaders

Support all areas of the ministry as needed
