Established in 1904, First Baptist Church is a multigenerational congregation, serving the Christian community in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. For almost a century, FBCBA was located in a downtown location. The church’s current location allows for easy access from all over the Tulsa Metropolitan area.

In 2020, Dr. Matt Brooks became the new senior pastor. With the addition of Steve Smith as the new executive pastor, the church has been diligently working to build a world-class team to serve the church. FBCBA exists to reach BA & beyond by multiplying disciples to follow Jesus.

FBCBA is committed to biblical preaching, expositional teaching, and life application. There are multiple expressions of vibrant worship at FBCBA. The church uses bands, orchestras, choirs, and vocals to engage people in worship. We also emphasize evangelism, missions, and discipleship. FBCBA is purposefully a multi-generational church and seeks to provide ministry and worship opportunities to both traditional and non-traditional church attenders of all ages and backgrounds.

In 2022, FBCBA will embark on a two-year giving initiative that will include a significant renovation and update to our facilities. The worship center, lobby/atrium, next-generation spaces, and offices will all be included in this project. FBCBA has historically remained debt-free and we intend to remain that way during this initiative.

About the Role

Media Director

Department: Communications and Media

Reports to: Communications Pastor

Supervises: Production Tech

Job/FLSA Status: Full-time; Exempt

Position Summary: The Media Director is responsible to the church, under the direction of the Communications Pastor, for leading, managing, and directing the broad scope of media production systems, processes, personnel, presentation content creation for worship services, ministries, and special events. While specific skills are essential to the role, the Media Director’s focus is at a high level of oversight, leadership, and management of resources, both human and physical, to produce work at a consistent and high level of quality.

Time Commitment: Full-time; Exempt

Education/Experience

College degree or equivalent educational experience
5+ years related experience with audio, video, and lighting (AVL) equipment and design, as well as event production
Experience leading a healthy media ministry in a medium to a large church with a proven track record of team building and delegation through staff and volunteers

Qualifications/Skills

A committed follower of Christ
Organizational, management, and leadership skills, including recruiting, training, and building positive volunteer relationships
Comprehensive understanding of AVL systems
Live production experience involving a variety of worship expressions including choirs, orchestras, bands, and vocalists.
Firm knowledge of event production
Detail-oriented, organized
Excellent relational skills as a manager and leader of both staff and volunteers

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

Overseeing the coordination of media production elements for all worship services, including AVL—either directly or through downline staff assist in the creative process of the stage setup, design, and implementation in worship services
Provide technical support the worship ministry has for rehearsals and services
Collaborate with the Communications Pastor to ensure all AVL systems are functional for Sunday morning/worship services to ensure a high level of excellence.
Provide technical support services for events that take place on the FBCBA campus
Volunteer leadership: Overseeing the recruitment, training, development, and scheduling of media ministry volunteers, maintaining a consistent and growing complement of team members to sufficiently manage the roles and responsibilities of production to maintain a high level of quality production
Effective leadership and development of volunteers, including training and encouragement to provide the best morale and retention of volunteers possible
Supervision of media staff; this includes effective and consistent engagement to remain in a position of influence and support of production activity and systems.
Manage the maintenance of all AVL equipment for the church
Effectively collaborate with other stakeholders to establish, define, clarify, and document relevant systems, protocols, standards, and best practices for the execution of media production both for live worship and events.
Attend all staff meetings, complete forms, and reports, including goal forms and reports, in a timely and concise manner
Effectively communicate and work alongside a staff of technical and creative production professionals as well as dozens of volunteers with varying skill levels in the media production disciplines
Understand and grasp what worship is and live a life of worship to lead by example for all volunteers and church members to see

Other Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

Proposed long-range strategies for upgrades and other capital expenditures related to media production and support
Serve, as appropriate, to mentor and develop leaders in the various media disciplines
Oversee all purchases the church makes for any AVL equipment
Collaborate with church ministry areas to support AVL needs and production requests
Participate in appropriate conferences and associations to remain informed and engaged in church media trends and resources
Any other duties as assigned
