Village Parkway Baptist Church is seeking a new Senior Pastor following the retirement of the previous pastor who, as part of his 28-year legacy, faithfully served a church that remains vibrant and healthy, both spiritually and materially.

Village Parkway Baptist Church serves to shine the Light in the darkness of this world by bringing the Gospel to the nations and to demonstrate the realities of God’s kingdom in this fallen world. We are a missional church, seeking to communicate God’s message of love and forgiveness through relevant preaching and teaching. At Village we believe that the highest calling of a Christ-follower is to honor and glorify God in all we do. Our starting point, then, must be a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Bible, accompanied by consistent application to our daily living.

Village is a conservative, Southern Baptist-affiliated church in San Antonio, Texas. The Senior Pastor will be serving a congregation who expects exegetical and expositional preaching and teaching to flow from the whole counsel of God and to be spoken from the heart of a shepherd. Doctrinally we affirm the Baptist Faith & Message 2000. We hold to a “high view of Scripture”. Cultural issues of the day are acknowledged with understanding and compassion but always with a firm stance on the foundation of Jesus Christ as reflected in the teaching of Scripture.

As Christ’s under-shepherd the Senior Pastor is the leader of the church. He discharges his responsibilities collaboratively and cooperatively, supported by the Deacons, the ministerial and support staffs, ministry leads, and committees and teams. As is common with Baptist churches, the membership number is imprecise. Attendance numbers pre-covid (Jan – Mar 2020) averaged 389 per week; following return from covid lockdown we have averaged 199 per week (Jan – Mar 2022). We still have a significant number who prefer to attend virtually via our livecast Sunday mornings. The worship center has a capacity of about 1,420.

This a full-time, compensated position with typical office hours (holidays off, unless on a Sunday). While not expected to be available 24/7/365, nonetheless the Senior Pastor is responsive to members’ spiritual concerns as they arise.

The campus consists of a Worship Center, an Education Building, and a stand-alone “quad” of classrooms, with an ample parking lot surrounding three sides of the facilities.
